DO NOT GO INTO THIS THINKING IT IS A JORDAN PEELE MOVIE!!!! I am telling you this upfront, na.
The film, it was looking absolutely stunning, no? The cinematography was most excellent. The sound design, it was on the very same level and quite impressive throughout. The acting was amazing from the entire cast, with every performer bringing their best to the screen.
This movie, it had so much going for it that the plot kind of disappointed me, to be honest. There were so many good ideas present in the film, and yet it did not dig deep enough into any of them to make them stick properly. The ideas, they remained on the surface only.
I made the mistake of going into this film thinking it was a classic Jordan Peele movie, you see. This is not that. Why the film has a similar look and pace of many Jordan Peele movies, it just was not on the same level thematically. The thematic depth was lacking, isn’t it. The picture tried to run everyway at once and left every path slightly treaded on, but not fully followed. Each idea was touched upon, but none of them were being explored in sufficient manner. The film could not decide what it wanted to say, and so it ended up saying everything in a half-hearted fashion only.
